Translate Silja's sentences
When I open a sentence page, what kind of information is retrieved from the translations of that sentence? Is it only the text of translation or is there also other information, like name of the sentence's owner? Would retrieving the name of the owner make loading a sentence page with many translations significantly slower or overload the server? Is it the same with indirect translations?
I was just thinking that it would a great benefit to get the names of the translations' and indirect translations' owners visible on the sentence pages, so that you don't have to open the sentence page of the (indirect) translation separately to see who owns it. The name with link to the users profile could be there on page next to the sentence itself (preferred option if only Tatoeba's layout can take it) or it could be shown in a title pop-up while you hoover mouse pointer over the sentence (this is better than nothing, but then there wouldn't be a direct link to the owners profile).
Why do I need this then? I usually like to translate only sentences submited by native speakers and link my sentences only to native speakers' sentences, so this would save me from a lot of clicking, when I want to see who owns a specific translation or indirect translation. I didn't have to open the sentence in a new tab to see the name of the owner and if I don't recognize their name, I could easily open the profile of the user with one less click.
Great, thanks. :)
When I add tags to the sentences, I get every time error message that the tag can't be added to the sentence or it already has the tag in question. However, the tag is added. This is not a big bug, but I thought I'd just let you know.
Actually, yes it does have a name. It's called of course Tom. ;)

I've cleared my cache now. Let's see if it helps. There is is most propably something wrong with my browser(s), because I've had problems to keep logged in for some days now, too.
I've added just [#3394941], the other two I found in the latest contributions.
How I added the sentence? I just went to this page http://tatoeba.org/fin/sentences/show/1620008 and clicked Translate icon. I noticed immediately that there was something wrong when the sentence was saved, because green arrow icon and chain icon were not displayed in front of the sentence like they are in front of other sentences. I didn't realize that the logs were not correct and I wasn't the owner of the sentence eventhough I didn't abandon it, it was CK who noticed that.
Here's another one, just a couple of minutes back: http://tatoeba.org/fin/sentences/show/3395336 (not mine).
Some more examples:

Thanks, removing cookies seems to work within Tatoeba. But if I try to access Tatoeba through one of CK's pages (for example http://a4esl.com/temporary/tato...lated/silja/), I'm getting thrown out when I try to translate the sentence. Even if I open one of those sentences in a new window (not through frame in CK's page), Tatoeba logs me out. Strange...
Now also highlighting works fine.
Tatoeba keeps on loging me out even though I have "remember me" check-box selected. Is there anything in this update that could have caused this?
Highlighting doesn't work for me. The sceen is just scrolled up or down (maybe the clicked translation is supposed to be in the centre of the page after this, but I can't see any pattern here) and there is no highlighting. I'm using Firefox 30.0.
Hear, hear! \o/
I don't know if you already know about this, but you get again a lot "504 Gateway Time-out" and "502 Bad Gateway" errors while trying to add sentences. I hope you can fix it soon! :)
Great! Thank you so much! :)
How I can search for short Japanese sentences? For example sentence "いる?"(http://tatoeba.org/fin/sentences/show/2925502). What I should type into find it easily and not the get over thousand results?
By the way, is it possible to get the search results sorted by the length of the found sentences? It would make searching (short) sentences a lot easier.
Congrats! :)
Is there any possibility to display all the translations of indirect translations in a specific language when I browse sentences?
Let's say I want to translate this English sentence into Finnish: http://tatoeba.org/fin/sentences/show/19433. There are 5 indirect translations for this sentence. If I want to check if any of these already have a suitable translation in Finnish, in need to check them one by one, which of course takes some time. But if I don't check them, there might be a suitable Finnish translation for the original English sentence and if I translate the sentence again, I might be creating duplicate sentences (and will also be wasting my time by thinking again how to properly translate it). If there would be any way for me to see all the Finnish translations of translations, direct or indirect, at once, I don't need to check all the indirect translations or add accidental duplicates. Also, it would be much easier to link the existing suitable Finnish sentences to the English sentence if the translations of indirect translations were shown in the list of sentences.
I need this kind of option when I look at an individual sentence (eg. http://tatoeba.org/fin/sentences/show/19433), browse sentences with certain tags (eg. http://tatoeba.org/fin/tags/sho...7/eng/page:50) or browse the translation view of some user's sentences (eg. http://tatoeba.org/fin/activiti..._of/AlanF_US).
This new text is not available for translation in Launchpad. Could you please add it there, so we can translate it for the UIs in other languages?
"Not approved
You may see some sentences in red. Those sentences are not approved by Tatoeba's community. They are either bad for learning purposes or have copyright issues, or both. If you are a contributor, please avoid translating those sentences."
I guess this has something to do with my latest Firefox update. After some other pages have started to act strangely, too.
It seems that Tatoeba user interface's different language options have stopped to work, except English. If I choose any other language nothing happens and the display language is English (or well, I can change the language in the Language drop-down but besides that nothing else happens).
I'll do that, thanks. I actually have had the wiki account for long time now, but for some reason Finnish wasn't added at the same time when my account was created.
